I didn’t believe in spontaneous or miraculous improvements in running technique, but some recent coaching clients have given me a chance to reconsider my position. The conclusion: for some (but not all) runners the removal of orthotics and reduction in running shoe support features can lead to rapid improvements in running technique. Nike Free – can a shoe improve technique?

So what’s the big deal about Nike Frees? It’s tempting to write off the Nike Free as a brilliant piece of marketing to which Nike excels, but are there practical reasons for runners to add a pair of Frees into their kitbag?
